Why counselling isn’t just for hard times
We often think of counselling as being useful only for when you’re going through a hard time, or when things in life have hit a crisis point. Counselling and therapy can absolutely be for those circumstances, but what if you’re not at a difficult point? Can you still go see a therapist?
The answer is, yes! You can get counselling even when you’re not going through a hard time.
But why would you even consider this?
Well, counselling is more than just a therapist holding space and providing emotional support. We are masters at asking the right questions to help you find some inner-clarity on your life and can help you figure out the next steps forward. It can also be beneficial if you’ve reached a peak moment and want to help recognising your own successes and strengths.
Counselling is NOT just about the deep and dark recesses of the past, or about getting support when you’re at your lowest. It’s a wonderful tool for preventative mental health care, in the same way you’d go see a GP and get a full check-up.

- You’re undertaking a massive life-change and want someone to help guide you or keep you accountable (yes, counsellors can do this as well as life-coaches).
- You want to explore your options and how you can continue moving forward in life
- You want to make sure you’re prepared and ready for your next big relationship or job
